The reduction for a prepaid package after delivery is 20% .

Packages must be set-up & prepaid before visits occur to qualify for this multi-visit discount.

If purchased individually visit fees are:

• $300, $220, & $145, plus a travel fee based on your home address of $1 a mile
• We wave this travel fee if your location is within 20 miles of UVA in Charlottesville
• $300 is for your 1st visit, it establishes status as a Joyful Start Client, this is an in-home visit
• $220 is for any subsequent follow-up visit.
• $220 is the fee for Joyful Start RN accompaniment to a visit with other local health care providers.
• $145 is for a session from our Class Menu (i.e., a Prenatal or Pre Frenectomy or a Back To Work class).

Here is an example of the thought process in deciding if a prepaid package is best for you.

If after chatting you decide you want 5 visits: an intake assessment visit, a Class to prepare you for an

Ankyloglossia intervention, accompaniment to a Frenectomy Release procedure at a dentist’s office, a

subsequent follow-up visit to check on latch improvement, and you'll be going back to work in 12 weeks

so you want a Back to Work Class….. individually that would be $300 +$145 +$220 +$220 +145 = $1030

A prepaid package 20% off for that set of 5 visits would cost $824, saving you $206!

There is never pressure to purchase before care, we just like to offer that as an option.

If fees have not been prepaid, payment is due day of service session by session.

We can take exact cash, a personal check, Credit Card via Ivy (a HIPAA compliant billing service), or fees

via a certified check made out to Joyful Start.

Appointments can be offered in your home or via TeleHealth.

Joyful Start staff includes RN’s (registered nurses) who are experienced in critical care. These nurses are

either current IBCLC’s (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant’s) or RNs retired from that

specific IBCLC credential. All have taken many hours of continuing education to augment their initial

certification requirements.

Joyful Start has a unique focus in the care of infants with Ankyloglossia, tongue tie challenges.

If tongue tie has been diagnosed or if it is suspected, we are trained to do an inclusive oral structure

assessment. We will also do a full assessment of mom & baby. This comprehensive assessment is to rule

out if presenting symptoms or functionality issues may be something other than tongue tee.

We craft a Care Plan based on your goals to address any issues we discover.

Joyful Start offers comprehensive care… we have 3 patients in every case: Mom, Baby, & the pair as a

team. Other professions (obstetrician, pediatrician, dentist) are trained to focus on either mom or baby.

Slots are reserved on our schedule for emergency appointments. If you have a referral for tongue tie

assessment we will prioritize that request. If our assessment makes us suspect tongue tie we facilitate

the fastest possible appointment to a preferred provider for a diagnosis & prompt intervention.

We have referral relationships with 5 local providers and are in association with providers worldwide.

Fees for Ankyloglossia or other complex care include:

• $300 for new client visit #1, it establishes your family as a Joyful Start Client, this is an in-home visit
• $220 returning client or each subsequent visit, or same fee for Joyful Start LC accompaniment to a local
• visit with other health care providers
• $145 is for 1 of our 90 min classes… examples: Pre- Frenectomy Prep Class, Back To Work Prep

Remember, as a former client you never again pay an intro enrollment fee, not with a second or any

successive baby.

As a happy returning client we would like to offer you our discounted Refresher Package.

This package includes:

• An in-depth 60 min telephone conversation with an RN to fully update your chart.

• A comprehensive recheck of medications, to make sure we're up to date on anything new. We have access to study data which is literally updated daily.

• We will update the entire Care Team of any new pertinent information.

• After these phone updates we want to meet your new baby! So we offer a session in your home, to observe a feeding and conduct an oral exam on this little one.

The fee for this multi-part service to returning clients is $325

If any additional visits are indicated you will be offered a returning client 10% discount on fees.
