Sylvia Kibler

Photographer

Sylvia has this to say about her contribution to Joyful Start, “I am a mom of two beautiful breastfed young boys and wife to the greatest man in the world. I have found great joy in capturing moments in my two son’s lives and have been very blessed to get to capture memories in the lives of others.   I feel so blessed to get to do what I love.  I have met so many amazing people along the way!  It is my goal to capture the true essence of each person I photograph and I hope that shines through in my work.”

Joy Funston RN IBCLC

Our founder Joy brings a passion for the benefits of breastfeeding that has grown since she breast fed her son. The pure joy of the bond formed during that experience led her to time volunteering with a mothers’ milk bank. Joy went on to successfully complete her international board certification in lactation consultation. She has more than 30 years as an IBCLC. Professionally, she has been an RN in an ICU setting for greater than 25 years, first in a pediatric & then a neonatal setting. Her current emphasis has progressed to Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) care. Joyce

now lectures internationally sharing her expertise with caregivers across the globe.

Joy has complimented her Western nursing training with a lifetime of holistic study. For example, she studied Body Talk with Gilly Adkins, one of the most revered experts in that innovative healing modality in Portland Oregon. Joy annually retreats to Costa Rica to continue her yoga study with Ken Sudhakar McRae, a master of Kripalu yoga.

Joy’s strengths are her intuition, her healing touch, and the infectious passion she brings to her practice. She cites as resources the peace of mind she gains from meditation, a commitment to being present, and the love & support she receives from her friends & family.
